Utah Photographer – Inside my Camera Bag
Utah Photographer – Inside my Camera Bag is all the gear behind the woman ready to make your photography session a success! Ready to take a peak and see what I’m bringing to the table, along with my education and years of experience?
First, I’m a Nikon girl all the way. Nikon vs Canon is honestly just the way the buttons feel to you where they are located, the type of buttons, and the fact that Canon pulls more magenta vs Nikon pulling more green.
1. I shoot with my Nikon D750 as my main camera body. I also carry along my trusty Nikon D610 as a second body and backup camera. Both are full frame and shoot beautifully. It makes shoots so much easier having one camera body per lens too!
2. I use only prime lenses when shooting sessions. This means that my lenses do not zoom in and out. That’s where part of my creativity comes in, moving back and forth and around to get multiple types of shots. I mainly use my 50mm f/1.4 lens, but I will often pull out my 35mm f/1.8 for large group shots or shots where I want a large amount of the background included (think mountains or LDS temple shot).
3. I keep a Hoya 58mm UV filter on both my lenses. It helps immensely to protect the lens glass from breaking or becoming dirty.
4. I keep four charged batteries in my camera bag at all times, along with two chargers for said batteries. You can never be too careful about dead batteries! I also have a back up battery grip for my D610. It comes in handy when shooting wedding details and groups.
5. I have 14+ SanDisk SD cards in an SD card zipped carrier in my bag. I have them numbered and use them in order. This helps to keep an extra backup of any RAW images on the cards for a small time before I circle back to that number again. I use 16GB to ensure I use multiple SD cards during sessions. That way, if one card happens to corrupt (*knock on wood*), I still have images on the other cards.
6. Lastly, all of this and more is packed into my new, beautiful Kamrette backpack! I had the best, hardy bag before buying my Kamrette backpack. I was ready to pack around something pretty during sessions though. I’d been eyeing the backpack for a few years and used Christmas as an excuse to buy it. Thank you Santa!!
Questions?? I hope this was helpful to see how much I’ve truly invested into my business and the gear I use. And this truly is only the surface of what’s in my camera bag! I absolutely try to be as prepared and efficient as possible.
