Questions:
What should my baby wear for family photos?
My very strong opinion is that less is more. Grab that plain white onesie and let’s go! It will match any room we shoot in and also let the focus be on that beautiful newborn baby details. My very favorites for baby are diaper only for details, a minimal swaddle, and a plain white onesie.
How do you take family pictures with a newborn?
Honestly, you just act natural!! The more natural you are in holding/snuggling baby and interacting with your whole family, the more you will love the photos! Do you really want to capture crazy posed moments? Nah! I want to capture real moments and relationships for you!
When should you do family pictures with a baby?
Age wise, the best time to do photos with a newborn baby are within two weeks of birth. After that, baby starts looking less newborn. But! It’s also important for mama to feel well and settled at home. If we’re talking time of day, 10:00 am will always be the sweet spot! The lighting inside your home will be bright enough but also soft enough for some beautiful shots.
What color do newborns look best in?
Again, I think a plain white onesie lets you focus more on that beautiful baby rather than what he/she is wearing. If you aren’t feeling a white onesie, choose another solid, neutral onesie. Tan, blue, sage, navy, black, etc.
Should parents be in newborn photos?
1000% yes! I know parents are tired, no, exhausted. However, you will want to remember the snuggles. You will want those moments of you and baby captured. Choose something neutral that you feel comfortable, and hop in those photos!
What should I wear to the hospital for newborn pictures?
If you choose to do a Fresh 48 session in the hospital, bring something neutral and comfortable. A cute robe, baggy shirt, house dress, etc. Remember, you are in the hospital and JUST delivered a baby!
Preparing for your photos:
How do you prepare for a newborn shoot?
I like to choose a tentative date for an In Home Newborn session months before baby’s due date. If baby comes early or late, that’s fine! We can play it by ear and reschedule as needed. On the day of your session, make sure your home is a little warmer for baby. Put on some white noise, and make sure to feed baby right before your session.
