My Top 10 Baby Must Haves
My top 10 baby must haves! No matter how much you try to prepare for a little one, you really have to learn for yourself as you go. But it helps to have friends that have paved the way before! And lists like this on the internet too of course. Even though there are SO many lists with the opinions of women telling you what you must have, I figured I would put in my two cents. These are in NO particular order by the way!
- Twelve Hours of Sleep by Twelve Weeks Old. The book I used to sleep train Peyton by the time she was thirteen weeks. Super easy read, and it explains the why of everything so well. Plus, you only let your babies cry it out for 3-5 minutes before going in to help them out.
- Wyze Cam. We didn’t feel it necessary to get a baby cam until our oldest was about a year, because that’s when they get more active. Wyze Cams were JUST coming out, so we were able to get two for super cheap. It’s been so nice to be able to look in on our babies from anywhere.
- Baby monitor. Even with the Wyze Cam, I still have a cheap $30 audio baby monitor in both my babys’ rooms. The Wyze Cam app has to be pulled up on your phone for you to see and hear baby, so you need something to easily tell you when baby is crying right in the moment.
- Amber Teething Necklace or Anklet. I wasn’t so sure I believed in the powers of these babies, but after using them with our first, I was! She was so much easier to handle when teething on the days she was wearing her necklace. When babies are teething, their temperature rises ever so slightly. This warms the Baltic Amber and releases natural help! Or something like that.
- Punkin Butt Oil. Yep, you read that right: Punkin Butt! It’s a teething oil that feels like you chewed on some mint gum and then drank really cold water. A nice relief for those poor baby’s gums!
- Sunflower Lecithin. In the year that I breastfed my oldest, I had Mastitis four times. Sunflower Lecithin basically helps dilute your milk, so it doesn’t clog as easily.
- The app (and/or book) Wonder Weeks. Wonder Weeks was made by scientists that studied babies and realized that babies all make the same “mental leap” at the same time off our their due dates. This is when mentally they learn things that will show up soon or later on. The app will warn you when your baby is about to go through a leap, the signs your baby will show (fyi crankiness is ALWAYS a sing), how to help baby, and what they are mentally going through.
- Sleep Sack. When your baby starts to roll over, you will definitely want a sleep sack! It will keep your baby warm but allow his/her arms out for safety. There are so many options/versions of sleep sacks. I have always just grabbed the ones at Carter’s.
- Changing Table Pad. I know mamas that chose not to have a changing pad, and honestly I didn’t think I’d want one. However, it’s been SO nice to set it on baby’s dresser for the first year or so. That way I don’t have to always get on the ground every time baby needed to be changed. And when you are done with it, you suddenly have a whole dresser top to decorate!
- Sound machine. I didn’t even want my babies to rely on something to sleep, but after having two kids, bring on the soothers! They are similar to binkies in the sense that they help babies learn to self soothe. We don’t try to be super quiet when our babies sleep, because we don’t want them to be use to needing silence to sleep. That’s all part of the “they come in to your lives and need to fit into your routine” kind of baby living. A sound machine can definitely help block out some of your noise if you’re being a little loud!
And there you have it! The ten items I fear I wouldn’t be very baby successful without. Feel free to message me if I’m missing anything big!
