7 Big DON’TS for Family Sessions
7 Big Don’ts for family sessions that will make ALL the difference! Preparing for a session can take a lot of time and brain power. Luckily, with me as your photographer, we start with a Session Prep Guide and a Questionnaire. I want to share the very top no no’s from the Session Prep.

- Do NOT get a haircut or change hair color within 1-2 weeks of your session. You never know when a hair catastrophe is going to occur.
- Don’t forget to bring the correct socks for men and boys. If you don’t want little bright white socks poking out from under those dark jeans or nice slacks, remember their tall dark socks!
- Do NOT go tanning or get a spray tan in the week leading up to your session. You don’t want to show up looking like a lobster or with an orange body if things go wrong. Hello Ross!
- Don’t forget to feed your children before! And your husband for that matter..
- Don’t put your kids in their session clothes until you get to the location. You never know when a toddler will spill his/her snack or drink or when your young baby will decide to have a massive blowout.
- Do Not plan anything at least a few hours before you need to leave for your session. Your photographer has set a session time for you for a reason. That set time is based on when the ideal light will be. Don’t be late!
- Don’t wear anything that you aren’t comfortable in! It will 1000% show through in the photos if you wear something you are not comfortable in.
