5 Must Poses for Family Pictures
5 Must Poses for Family Pictures that I try to always include in my sessions! My biggest suggestion is to explain the pose well and then prompt the subject to naturally move into the pose on their own. These are not in any particular order! They are all high up on my list of favorite poses for family photos!
1. Hug from behind. This pose is so versatile and can lead into many other fun prompts! It can absolutely be used with couples, but I love it even more so with babies and children! Basically a group hug!
2. Sitting and looking at each other. Obviously you can do looking at each other while standing, but I love a good sitting shot! They are close, can hug onto each other, and it’s something more than just smiling for a sitting pose.
3. Growl in ear. This can be done with children too, but I often use it with mom and dad shots. Sometimes they don’t even get growling before there is laughter!
4. Walking together. Easy peasy! You can have them walk to you, away, or even across your frame. There are so many prompts to add on to walking too. Have fun with it!
5. Kids on Shoulders. I always ask dad and mom if they have bad backs before giving this one a go, but it can often help the situation if a child is having a hard time! Get super excited at how tall they are or that they can hug daddy.
